This is the Minnesota Birding Report for Thursday, February 1st 2007.
The GREEN-TAILED TOWHEE is still visiting the feeder in the town of
Mountain Lake, Cottonwood County and was seen as recently as today. From
state highway 60 exit onto 3rd Avenue and drive to 10th Street. Turn
north on 10th street and drive to the edge of town to a cemetery and
lake on the left. The feeder is in front of the pale green house, which
is the second to the last building on the right side of the road.
The three GRAY-CROWNED ROSY-FINCHES at the Fond du Lac Resource
Management Division office just west of Cloquet in County were all seen
as recently as the 31st.
A BARROW'S GOLDENEYE was reported again on the 28th from Point Douglas
Park, Washington County. Point Douglas Park is on the Minnesota side of
the Mississippi River across from Prescott, Wisconsin.
Two SNOWY OWLS are still being reported from the Minneapolis - St. Paul
airport, with the best place to look being along Cargo Road. What may
have been a third individual was reported from the Humphrey Terminal on
the 24th. A pair of GREAT GRAY OWLS was found on the 29th along Aitkin
County Road 18, just west of the Hebron Cemetery.
Somewhat far south were the two COMMON RAVENS seen January 30th near
Princeton but in Isanti County and near mile marker 29 of state highway
95.
On the 29th, a VARIED THRUSH was in the Oakport Township area of north
Moorhead, Clay County, at 608 Wall Street.
The next scheduled update of this tape is Thursday, February 8th 2007.
