It seems that the large black bird with the diamond-shaped tail that I saw
fly into the woods near Rushford would be a rare find if it were in fact a
Common Raven (first county record). Unfortunately, I am probably wrong. I
was un-aware the Raven does not frequent this corner of the state and when I
saw the large bird with said tail feathers I jumped to conclusions. I
apologize. If someone with more experience would like to take a look, it was
on hwy 16 about 1-2 miles east of Rushford in Fillmore County. There was
also a bald eagle (about a mile farther West) as the DNR has put out some
deer carcasses to feed the eagles.
