This is the Minnesota Birding Report for Thursday January 4th 2007.
On January 1st, members of the Cottonwood County Bird Club found a
GREEN-TAILED TOWHEE at a feeder in the town of Mountain Lake. In the
town of Mountain Lake, exit from State Highway 60 onto 3rd Avenue and
drive to 10th Street. Turn north on 10th street and drive to the edge of
town to a cemetery and lake on the left. The feeder is in front of the
pale green house, which is the second to the last building on the right
side of the road.
The three GRAY-CROWNED ROSY-FINCHES at the Fond du Lac Resource
Management Division office just west of Cloquet in St. Louis County were
all seen as recently as the 2nd.
On December 31st, Chris Benson reported a PRAIRIE FALCON at the junction
of US Highways 14 and 218 on the east side of Owatonna, Olmsted County.
On January 2nd, Great Gray Owls were found in Aitkin County along the
Hedbom Forest Road about five miles west of the St. Louis County line
and also on Aitkin County Road 18.
On the 2nd, Bob Ekblad reported a SNOWY OWL northeast of the town of
Plainview in Wabasha County, along the gravel road that goes north of
State Highway 42 between mile markers 21 and 22.
And the TOWNSEND'S SOLITAIRE is still being seen on Park Point in
Duluth. It tends to hang out in a small mountain ash tree near 36th
Street.
The next scheduled update of this tape is Thursday, January 11th 2007.
