Within minutes of entering the gates of Wood Lake Nature Center
(Richfield) this evening at sundown, my son and I saw a N. Shrike. It
was perched right in front of the visitor center by the marsh for
beautiful up-close viewing. As we were watching the shrike, a merlin
did a long slow swoop low over our heads. An amazing start to a nice
walk through an urban oasis.

We saw the shrike again about a half hour later along the shrubby
trees that line the walkway that bisects the marsh.

Also saw Am. Tree sparrows by the feeders, but struck out on owls.
