Today, after a small period of absence due to the 2-foot snow storm, =
both Carolina Wrens showed themselves in the brush between Seigler's =
yard and our yard as early as 7am. Howard Towle came by around 11am and =
saw the male singing and feeding near our front yard. I came home around =
3:45pm and saw both wrens hanging out on the outside of a cage in Mary =
Seigler's yard (a pen for her indoor cats.) Mary also said she saw one =
of the birds fly under her shed roof, where she has 3 nesting boxes. =
Nesting? A tad early perhaps, but we're keeping our eyes peeled! The =
last day it was seen before the storm was on Thursday, where one at a =
time, the wrens visited her front door feeder throughout the first half =
of the day (before the snow really picked up.) She says that they eat =
the suet bits and the dried mealworms.
On a lighter note, the Brown Creeper has been seen frequently in =
Mary Seigler's front yard oaks. Good birding to all--
