A drive through various areas of the county produced the following birds of
interest (to me): An early, single Sandhill Crane migrating with 7 Canada
Geese, flying over the Eagan Rosemount border. A Barred Owl sitting in a sunny
location along the southern edge of Lebanon Hills Regional Park. Eastern
Bluebirds in 2 locations. Lake Byllesby was 95%+ frozen over, but still attracting
geese. Hundreds of Canadas, 9 Cackling Geese and 6 Greater White-fronts.
Very few ducks. One vocal Killdeer, but I could never find find it. Also, 2
migrant Herring Gulls. And lastly, a Red-shouldered Hawk flying over the old town
in Hastings, being harassed by a crow. Have seen another recently near Black
Dog Lake.
