2002Spring One seen 4/21 Clay (Moorhead) †DDW.
2002Fall One seen 10/4–9 Hennepin (Bloomington) †JC. Fall records of this species have occurred about once a decade: in 1962, 1966, 1974, 1986, and 1991.
2003Spring One at the entrance to Acacia Cemetery in Mendota Heights, Dakota County, was seen, documented, and photographed by many observers 4/28–5/2 Dakota †DWK, JO, including last date documented 4/30 †PCC.
2003Summer One documented 6/8 St. Louis (Fredenberg Twp.) †SG et al. Second county record and the first summer occurrence in the state since 1984 (The Loon 56:192–193).
2004Spring One singing at Felton Prairie 5/8+ Clay †WCM, m.obs. attracted a mate (see summer report). Also reported 5/2–3 Pipestone (Split Rock Creek S.P.) JMu, †RMD et al., †PHS.
2004Summer Second adult (see spring report) 6/6–7/17 Clay (Felton Prairie, 4 young fledged) †PCC, m.ob. First nesting record for this Casual species.
2005Spring One reported from rock pile #6002 at Felton Prairie in Clay, where a pair bred last year. First seen 5/10 JEB, RBJ; documented through end of season and into August †CMB, ph. JJB, †PCC, †PHS, †DTT, †SMT.
2005Summer One adult (see spring report) in same Clay County location where a pair nested in 2004; observed throughout season and into August m.ob.
2005Fall One at Felton Prairie since May was last seen 8/23 Clay JEB, RBJ. Another was seen and heard among the rocks at the Taconite Harbor boat launch 10/17–21 Cook †SLF, †DBF; also documented †JWL and heard by KRE.
2006Spring One was found on private property 5/7–8 in east-central Rice †GDB, LMy, †TFB.
2006Summer Twenty-fourth state record and second county occurrence 6/7 Rock (Blue Mounds S.P.) ph. †MSS.
2008Fall2 One found 9/19 in Otter Tail at Inspiration Peak was a third county record (ph. †DST). Another third county record was one 9/25–10/2 in Cook at the Grand Marais Campground (†SC, fide JWL).
2012Fall1 New county record 10/11 Blue Earth (rural Mankato) ph. †FSe. First fall report of this species in four years.
2015Spring1 First spring report since 2006 and a new county record: 4/18–25 Kittson (dam at Lake Bronson S.P.) ph. †CSc (The Loon 87:140–141).
2019Fall1 One report, 10/8 Hennepin ph. † EWM, found at the Minnesota River Valley N.W.R. headquarters, represents the first fall report since 2012. Another was found at precisely the same location in May 1997.
2020Fall1 First county record 10/4–5 Scott (Belle Plaine) ph. †CLH, ph. †BAb, ph. †BHe.
 
 Thirty-two records: 14 spring, 2 spring-summer, 1 spring-fall, 2 summer, and 13 fall. One breeding record (2004). Recorded in four of the last ten years, most recently 2023. Formerly Accidental.
