Some parts of the northwest have received several inches of snow this week, but the far northwest hardly received any . The result is that , when the sun shines, the temperatures have been really pleasant. Most afternoons it has reached the low thirties in Thief River Falls. The feeders have been quiet.

A BARRED OWL came to the feeder of Charlene Nelson in Grant County on December 1.

From Otter Tail County, Teresa Jaskiewicz reported 2 BALD EAGLES, BELTED KINGFISHER , AMERICAN TREE SPARROW, and PINE SISKINS on November 29.

The VARIED THRUSH at Kabekona Lake in Hubbard County was reported to e-Bird by several observers as recently as November 30.

In Polk County, Sandy Aubol reported NORTHERN SHRIKE and GREAT HORNED OWL along the Red Lake River in East Grand Forks on November 28. On the 29th, she found RED-BELLIED WOODPECKER, NORTHERN FLICKER, and three BOHEMIAN WAXWINGS along the Red River there, and a COOPER'S HAWK in her yard. A RED CROSSBILL was heard on November 30.

A late ROSE-BREASTED GROSBEAK was seen by Jan Anderson at her feeder in Thief River Falls, Pennington County, on November 27. On November 29, Shelley Steva and I saw 12 WILD TURKEYS and a ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK in western Pennington County. Today, December 3, I spotted a COMMON RAVEN floating lazily over MN 1 just east of Thief River Falls.

Fifty LAPLAND LONGSPURS were seen by Shelley Steva and I on November 27 along Marshall County Road 7 near the intersection with CR 12.
