This is the Duluth Birding Report for Thursday, November 15th, 2007 sponsored by the Minnesota Ornithologists' Union.

The INCA DOVE along 3rd Street in downtown Two Harbors was still being seen as of the 15th. It has mainly been seen in the backyard of 304 2nd Avenue, especially under the dense cedars and bird feeders near the garage. It has also been seen in the backyards of each of the seven houses to the west, especially in the ash trees in the two houses to the west.

A NORTHERN HAWK OWL was found by Ben, Joshua and Peter Yokel on the 10th north of Cotton along the Melrude Road (CR 59), just east of Highway 53. They also have had two BOREAL CHICKADEES coming to their feeders in Melrude for the past few weeks.

Paul Budde found a juvenile LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULL in Duluth on the 10th at 27th Avenue West near the mouth of Miller Creek. Mike Hendrickson saw an adult ICELAND GULL and a first-cycle THAYER'S GULL at the Superior landfill on the 10th. Peder Svingen found two SURF SCOTERS and a LONG-TAILED DUCK on the 9th on the bay side of Park Point between 27th Street and the rowing club.

Lane Ellwanger and others relocated the female MOUNTAIN BLUEBIRD at the Grand Marais municipal campground on the 11th, as well as a TOWNSEND'S SOLITAIRE. They also found a first winter GLAUCOUS GULL and a SURF SCOTER in the harbor, and a male AMERICAN THREE-TOED WOODPECKER at 1427 Croftville Road.

A late CAPE MAY WARBLER was seen on the 12th at the Larsmont Cottages, about four miles southwest of Two Harbors. Jan Green saw a late YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLER on the 14th along the Old North Shore Road in Duluth Township. The next scheduled update of this report will be on Thursday, November 22nd.
