This is the Duluth Birding Report for October 26th, 2012 sponsored by the Minnesota Ornithologists' Union.
Two GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GEESE were found by Don Kienholz on the 22nd at Bayfront Park in the Duluth harbor and they were still present on the 26th. Peder Svingen saw a first-cycle LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULL on the 20th on the Minnesota side of the Superior Entry. Jan and Larry Kraemer saw a BLACK SCOTER on the 19th at the Indian Point campground in west Duluth.
Dave Bartkey and others saw two SURF SCOTERS on the 26th at Paradise Beach east of Grand Marais and a flock of 14 BOHEMIAN WAXWINGS at the Grand Marais municipal campground. Kurt Schulzetenberg saw four WHITE-WINGED SCOTERS on the 20th in the Grand Marais harbor.
