This is the Minnesota Birding Report for Thursday, January 17th 2008.
A BARROW'S GOLDENEYE is still being seen on the Mississippi River near Point Douglas, Washington County, as is an adult male HARLEQUIN DUCK.
Two SNOWY OWLS were found in Aitkin County on the 12th. One was north of Aitkin near the junction of highway 210 and 370th Lane. The other was on the west side of county road 1 about five and three-quarter miles north of Aitkin.
A NORTHERN HAWK OWL can still be seen in the Sax-Zim Bog along St. Louis County Road 7, half a mile south of Stone Lake Road. Another is near the corner of Rice Lake Road and Airpark Road in Duluth. And on the 12th, a Hawk Owl was about two miles west of Cass County Road 8 on County Road 73.
On the 14th, a GREAT GRAY OWL was on a power pole on the north side of St. Louis County Road 133 about seven miles west of Meadowlands.
A TOWNSEND'S SOLITAIRE was seen on the 16th on Norell Avenue just north of Stillwater, Washington County. Check the west side of the road across from the driveway that is north or the Stillwater Town Hall parking lot. And a solitaire is still being reported from behind the Science Museum of Minnesota in St. Paul.
