This is the Minnesota Birding Report for Thursday September 5th, 2013.
On August 27th and again on the 4th, Karl Bardon identified a MISSISSIPPI KITE at Hawk Ridge in Duluth. Both birds were seen from the main overlook area.
A juvenile RED KNOT was at Park Point in Duluth on September 3rd. And on the 30th, Karl Bardon and Peder Svingen found seven PARASITIC JAEGERS at Park Point near the Sky Harbor airport. This included four light adults, two light subadults, and one dark subadult.
On August 30th, Mike Henry had a CAROLINA WREN in his back yard on Plummer Circle in Rochester, Olmsted County. On September 1st, Stephen Moore found a pair of Carolina Wrens at camp site number W37 of Beaver Creek Valley State Park in Houston County.
Migrants continue to trickle through and I have new reports of PIPING PLOVER, CASPIAN TERN, BLUE-HEADED VIREO, CONNECTICUT WARBLER, MAGNOLLIA WARBLER, and YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLER.
