Leaves are starting to fall and accumulate along curbs and windbreaks. Weather has continued to be pleasant and the first frost has not yet occurred in the majority of the area. Migration continues and now we are seeing the last of the warblers, and some of the late fall sparrows are coming in.

>From Kittson County, Larry Wilebski reported GREAT BLUE HERON, GREAT EGRET, 25 AMERICAN WHITE PELICANS, and RED-TAILED HAWK on the 17th, and YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLER and AMERICAN REDSTART on the 18th.

Shelley Steva had a GOLDEN-CROWNED KINGLET in her yard in Pennington County east of Thief River Falls on the 18th, and spotted a COOPER'S HAWK carrying prey just down the road. Here in our nearby yard on the 18th, the first real wave of YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLERS came through. On the 20th, they were joined by BLUE-HEADED VIREO, EASTERN BLUEBIRD, CEDAR WAXWING, TENNESSEE WARBLER, YELLOW WARBLER and WHITE-THROATED SPARROW.

A MERLIN was found by Shelley Steva in Red Lake County near the intersection of CR 1 and CR 5 about 5.5 miles north of Oklee on September 19.

Nathaniel Emery reported that YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLERS are also coming through the campus of MSUM in Crookston, Polk County.

Shar Legenhausen in Becker County reported a WHITE-THROATED SPARROW on September 19th.Several hundred DOUBLE-CRESTED CORMORANTS were at Tamarac Lake in Tamarac NWR on September 20. Also in the county on the 20th were RED-BREASTED NUTHATCH, EASTERN BLUEBIRD, and NORTHERN FLICKER.

>From Otter Tail County, Alma Ronningen reported YELLOW-BELLIED SAPSUCKER on the 17th, CEDAR WAXWINGS on the 18th, and OSPREY, RUBY-THROATED HUMMINGBIRD, and EASTERN PHOEBE on the 22nd.
