This is the Duluth birding report for Thursday, March 13th, sponsored by the Minnesota Ornithologists' Union.

(Paraphrased)

The heavy recent snow, and the presence of all four northern OWLS (and a SPRUCE GROUSE sighting), show that winter is still with us.

Spring's migration is on, with special note of a raptor count being done by Frank Nicoletti at Enger Tower along West Skyline Parkway. This is the first systematic raptor count ever done in Duluth during spring migration. Credits to Frank, and to the funding from Hawk Ridge's management committee.
