This is the Minnesota Birding Report for Thursday, May 27th.

Jim Lind found a BLACK VULTURE on the 26th along state highway 61 in Lake County. It was near the Gate 11 Road in the Encampment Forest area, which is about seven miles northeast of Two Harbors.

On May 26th, Ron Erpelding and Bob Schroeder found a pair of BLACK-NECKED STILTS at Rice Lake, east of Winnebago in Faribault County. The birds were out on the point on the east side of the lake near the group of short wooden posts. And at least two Black-necked Stilts are still present at the Belle Plaine sewage ponds in Scott County.

On the 20th, a male PRAIRIE WARBLER was reported from at St. John's University near St. Cloud, Stearns County. Take the I-94 exit to St. John's, following the road to the campus. Turn left at the stop sign, then right into the parking lot behind the prep school. Walk down the hill past the first stand of trees to a second, narrow stand between two athletic fields. Check near the path heading through the woods.

The PAINTED BUNTING is still at Rich Pemble's residence in Moorhead, Clay County. Rich lives at 2411 Rivershore Drive. Take I-94 to the U.S. Highway 75 exit, go north to the stop light at 24th Avenue South and turn left. At the end of 24th turn left and park. Rich asks birders to walk around the south side of the garage and watch either from the wooden deck or from the yard sloping toward the river.

A WHITE-FACED IBIS was reported by Bob Schroeder on the 25th in Meeker County. It was along state highway 7 in the town of Corvuso, about 13 miles west of Hutchinson. This may be the same bird seen by Dan Floren who reported a White-faced Ibis on the 24th from just east of Hutchinson.

Mike Hendrickson found a breeding plumage PACIFIC LOON on the 26th on Lake Superior at 31st Street South on Park Point in Duluth. There were also at least five RED-THROATED LOONS on the lake.

On the 24th, a pair of CATTLE EGRETS was found near Lake Stella in Meeker County, north of Hutchinson. Susan Johnson reported them in the vicinity of her backyard.

A WILLET was on Sand Point at Frontenac, Goodhue County on the 26th.

A KENTUCKY WARBLER has returned to the Williams Nature Center in Blue Earth County. This is along state highway 68 west of Mankato.

A SUMMER TANAGER was at the northeast end of Medicine Lake in Hennepin County on the 25th, near 29th Avenue North. Another was in Shakopee on the 22nd.
