This is the Minnesota birding report for Thursday June 17th sponsored by the Minnesota Ornithologists' Union.
Dan Floren found a single CLARK'S GREBE on Long Lake south of the town of Grove City in western Meeker County on June 12th. The bird was near shore and in the company of two WESTERN GREBES. On the 6th Peder Svingen found a Clark's Grebe at Thielke Lake in Big Stone County, and the bird was seen again the following day.
On June 12th at least one YELLOW-THROATED WARBLER was still Sibley State Park in Kandiyohi County. Jessie Ellis reported a single bird in the same location as mentioned in previous reports. Look along the paved bike path that runs west of the boat launch. On the same day and also in Kandiyohi County Randy Frederickson found a YELLOW-BREASTED CHAT. Take county road 5 north of state highway 9 for about a mile. Turn west on the gravel road for 1.7 miles and look for the small wetland on the south side of the road. The bird has been seen toward the west end of this wetland.
On the 13th a NORTHERN MOCKINGBIRD was found at Sherburne NWR in Sherburne County. The bird was found near the end of the wildlife drive.
Barb Kull is reporting several AMERICAN WHITE PELICANS on German Lake in Isanti County. This is just west of state highway 47 on Isanti County Road 59.
And a SWAINSON'S HAWK was seen in Dakota County on the 11th, seven miles west of Hastings on Highway 55.
