>From Jake's Resort and the Angle Inlet area of Lake of the Woods, Celeste Colson reported COMMON LOON, GREAT GRAY OWL, EVENING GROSBEAK and SNOW BUNTING this past week.

A SNOWY OWL was observed by Jeff Birchem on the 21st at the north boundary of the Red Lake WMA, approximately 4 miles SW of Norris Camp in Lake of the Woods County.

At the Tamarac National Wildlife Refuge this week, birds noted were COMMON LOON, RING-BILLED GULL, FRANKLIN'S GULL, large numbers of RING-NECKED DUCKS, (approximately 29,000 counted on the 25th), ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK, MARSH WREN, GOLDEN-CROWNED KINGLET, RUBY-CROWNED KINGLET, EASTERN BLUEBIRD, YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLER, AMERICAN TREE SPARROW, SONG SPARROW, WHITE-THROATED SPARROW, HARRIS'S SPARROW, SNOW BUNTING & good numbers of PURPLE FINCH.

At the Hamden Slough National Wildlife Refuge on the 28th, 5 GREAT EGRETS were still present, along with large numbers of GADWALL, AMERICAN WIGEON, MALLARD and a few GREEN-WINGED TEAL. Also present were 3 GREATER YELLOWLEGS, BALD EAGLE, NORTHERN HARRIER, AMERICAN TREE SPARROW, and HARRIS'S SPARROWS.

Other interesting birds noted in Becker County this week were 3 SANDHILL CRANES and an BLACK-BILLED MAGPIE along CR 21 north of Detroit Lakes, a pair of NORTHERN CARDINALS at the feeders of Jim & Joyce Holter on Floyd Lake, north of Detroit Lakes and numerous reports of AMERICAN TREE SPARROWS.
