On the 28th, Gretchen Mehmel found a GREAT GRAY OWL about 2 miles north of the Norris Fire Tower along the Roosevelt Forest Road. This is in the Beltrami Island State Forest, Lake of the Woods County.

Celeste Colson reported from the Northwest Angle, Lake of the Woods, on the 27th. Birds seen were BALD EAGLE, COMMON RAVEN, BLACK-BILLED MAGPIE, WHITE-WINGED CROSSBILL, COMMON REDPOLL, PINE GROSBEAK, EVENING GROSBEAK and PINE SISKIN.

Gladwin Lynne reported birds found at the Lake Bronson State Park, Kittson Co., this past week included MALLARD, ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK, RED-BREASTED NUTHATCH and COMMON REDPOLL. A SNOWY OWL was along CR 10, just west of the park.

On the 26th, Kay Hartness had a flock of BOHEMIAN WAXWINGS in her yard on Cotton Lake in Becker County, while four COMMON GOLDENEYES swam in the yet unfrozen lake in front of her house.

At the Tamarac NWR in Becker Co., birds observed this week, included BALD EAGLE, NORTHERN GOSHAWK, AMERICAN TREE SPARROW, PINE GROSBEAK and EVENING GROSBEAK.

Other birds reported over the past week included TRUMPETER SWAN, TUNDRA SWAN, RING-BILLED GULL, MOURNING DOVE, PILEATED WOODPECKER, RED-WINGED BLACKBIRD, SNOW BUNTING, DARK-EYED JUNCO, NORTHERN CARDINAL and many AMERICAN GOLDFINCH.
