Spring greetings birders.
The Great Blue Herons have returned to the extensive rookery at the =
Eastern tip of Wright County, above the Mississippi River 2 miles =
northwest of the town of Dayton in northernmost Hennepin County. At this =
rookery last year I counted over 60 pairs; last year also a Great Horned =
Owl pair commandeered one of the nests and fledged at least one owlet =
there, but all this Spring I have been unable to locate an Owl on any of =
the nests.
The location is 1/4 mile northeast of where Wright Co 37 ends at Wright =
Co 42 (which parallels the Mississippi River at that place).
