I was in your fair state Saturday and managed to bird below the Minnesota
Valley NWR headquarters. I saw more Fox Sparrows there then I have ever
seen at one location. At least 12.

Other birds of interest included

Pileated Woodpecker
Barred Owl
Yellow-bellied Sapsucker (2)
Swamp Sparrow

One of the advantages to being a NE South Dakotan is that I am not jaded by
cardinals, which we do not have at home. On the way home, near Big Stone,
we saw Tundra Swan and a Turkey Vulture

Andrew Longtin mentioned a fox sp--yesterday I had 5 in my yard, in
Clear Lake--all at the same time, in two groups. It was wonderful.
