Thought I would get an early jump on shorebirds in Dakota County. No birds present on Jirik sod farms (County road 66) with exception of expected killdeer. Still dickcissels, western meadowlark, clay-colored sparrow present at the Empire substation. Noticeably absent were any loggerhead shrikes on 180th St. Last year this was an excellent location for a number of families.
