While on the January Minnesota Birding Weekend this weekend lead by Kim =
Eckert, we refound the Gyrfalcon at Peavy Elevators in Superior, WI. =
When we got there it was perched on the elevator. It took off after a =
Rock Pigeon and we lost it as it went behind the elevator. We then saw =
it carrying a pigeon out onto the ice. It picked it up twice and moved =
farther away from us into Minnesota territory and proceeded to tear off =
the feathers and eat it. See Mike Hendrickson's post for directions.=20

Also seen this weekend were

Sharp-tailed Grouse - The new lek north of CR 133=20
Boreal Chickadee - Sax Zim
Hoary Redpoll - At a feeder
Evening Grosbeak - At a feeder along the same road as the Sharp-tailed =
Grouse
Pine Grosbeak - several feeders

but no Great Gray Owls

Some of us went to Spooner Wisconsin to see the Northern Hawk Owl that =
is present there. It was at the intersection of Burnett County Road H =
and County Road B. There are two intersections it was at the southern =
one.
