While looking at the Black-necked Stilts at Spindler's Pond we saw a =
Ruddy Turnstone working
the shoreline, as well as many Short-billed Dowitchers and 3 Greater =
White-fronted Geese.

The location is on Steele County Road 19, 1/2 mile west of the entrance =
to Rice Lake State Park.
County Road 19 is the same as Rose Street in Owatonna, and the pond is =
6-8 miles east of Owatonna.

If you come to look use EXTREME CAUTION. This is a busy county road =
with no shoulder and the
pond is on a curve. Not a lot of room for vehicles to avoid you in this =
spot so use your head
because we don't want you to lose it! Luckily the locals are used to =
people parking in this bad spot
to look at whatever has blown in...
