These are swans from Bayfield County WI.  They winter at Riverlands,
East Alton, MO.  Swan 40E (Green) is the breeding male.  He is
originally from the Keweenaw Bay releases in the UP of Michigan.  He was
in rehab in Wisconsin after an injury.  In spring of 2002, with the OK
of KB, we released him as a replacement mate for the female at Totogatic
Lake.  It was love at first sight and they went on to nest in 2003.
They produced 6 cygnets, including 01A and 06A, both females.  The
female did not return in 2004 and he did not nest.   He and some of his
2003 offspring spent the summer of 2004 on Nelson Lake at Hayward WI.
