I would appreciate any insight someone could provide on the following =
questions:

1) When are the owls likely to return to Canada and what will trigger =
movement? Change in season? Weather? Food availability?=20

2) Has mating season begun? If yes, is that why we are starting to =
observe more frequent occurences of fighting? Or is that just food =
related? From all the trips my wife and I have made, we have never =
observed this behavior until our last one two weeks ago. Then it seemed =
all of a sudden that we were seeing a surprisingly large number of one =
attacking another.

3) When we watched the events of one attacking another, they would =
separate and perch at a distance from each other and one would start =
making this "yipping" like sound over and over until the other one left? =
Has anyone observed this and can explain the basis of the sound?

4) How many mice can a GGO eat at a time? My wife and I watched and =
photograph one off 53 make 3 successful kills within the space of about =
an hour. Even after that, we left and it was still hunting. We were both =
surprised that they could down so many in such a short period.

Your input on the above would be most appreciated.
