Your travel agent is correct in saying that most MN auto policies =
include
comprehensive coverage that includes car rentals-and in suggesting that =
you
contact your insurance agent regarding whether or not you have this
coverage. In addition, if you use a gold or platinum credit card for =
your
car rental, your credit card company will be a "secondary" insurer-that =
is,
they will cover the cost of any deductibles that your regular auto =
policy
has-again, you should check with your credit card company to make sure =
that
they offer this coverage and determine if there are any vehicle =
make/model
exclusions. However, if you choose to take this route, you and the =
rental
agent should examine the vehicle very carefully and make sure that any
nicks, dents, scrapes, glass cracks, etc. are noted on the rental =
contract.
The primary benefit of taking the car rental company's collision damage
waiver (they don't call it insurance) is that you are basically worry =
free
in terms of responsibility for any vehicle damage.

told by a local travel agent who owns a very successful travel agency. =

is what she said:

that coverage. The coverage offered by the car rental companies tends to
double the cost of the rental and I would not advise taking it. They may =

company. If there is not a representative in the local area, you just =
