Yesterday I stayed an extra day in Morris after attending the Friends of =
the Wetlands birding trip. The Friends passed out a list of birding =
sites around Morris which is how I discovered this excellent area where =
I went early Monday morning. The woods were alive with bird song. =
There are over a couple of miles of trails winding through woods, lakes =
and wetlands so there is a variety of habitat and birds.

Directions to this site as listed from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife =
Service:
Scandia Woods/S.W.E.L.L. Five miles east on Hwy 28 from Morris, 2.5 =
miles north on County Road 3, then one mile east on township road.

To observe the owl nest, take either the middle or left path about 1/2 =
mile to the first lake. As you approach the lake there is a burned tree =
on the right of the path which has a Great Horned Owl poking its head =
from the nest.
