Seen from the lakeside windows at the Shoreline Motel in Grand Marais, Feb. 8 and 9: one male HARLEQUIN Duck, one winter-plumaged male LONG-TAILED DUCK, three male RED-BREASTED MERGANSERS, as well as numerous COMMON GOLDENEYES sometimes being harassed by a BALD EAGLE.
Seen while walking on the Croftville Road on Feb. 9: one female AM. THREE-TOED WOODPECKER working over a dead spruce near Anderson's Resort. Also numerous RED-BREASTED NUTHATCHES and a handful of PINE SISKINS.
