The 2007 Lake Superior Boat Trips are posted on my website under "Lake =
Superior Birding" in the content section. =20
Last year I organized a early June field trip and even though it was a =
pleasant morning out on Lake Superior, the birding was rather =
uneventful. So Dan Rau, captain of the LL Smith Research vessel and I =
decided to move the date this year to May 19th. Mid May is excellent =
time to do Lake Superior Boating trip because there is still a lot of =
waterfowl around, loons are still migrating, Bonaparte's Gulls and terns =
are still moving through and last year Dan spotted a jaeger species on =
one of his outings in mid May. Of the 3 fall trips offered one of them =
was cancelled due to foul weather but I led the group out to do some =
lake scanning and we spotted no less than 8 jaegers soaring over Lake =
Superior. In September on one of the boat trips we had two Parasitic =
Jaegers soaring over our boat and one of the participants filmed them =
