On Saturday, January 13, 2007 Herb Dingmann and I were successful in
relocating the Norman County Gray Jays originally found by Ben Fritchman in
early November. The first Gray Jay was relocated in a conifer stand on the
east side of MN HWY 32 just north of the small town of Syre, MN in
southeastern Norman County.
The second Gray Jay sighting occurred approximately 5 miles further north on
the northeast side of Twin Valley, MN. At that site one Gray Jay and
possibly two were seen in on the west side of Co Rd 29 where it crosses the
creek/river on the NE side of Twin Valley.
Also of note that same day was the small flock of White-winged Crossbills
seen feeding in a spruce tree in the Gary Pines Wayside Rest approximately 2
miles NW of Gary, MN in east central Norman County
