1932SummerLeadner Fischer saw a American Kestrel at its nest on Mny 22, He did not determine the contents.of the nest.
1933Summer Two nests of this graceful little Falcon was reported, both for June 1otht and both containing 2 eggs. Risser found one ncar St. Paul o.nd the other wns found by Breckenridge in Anoka County.
1934Summer Morse (he of the keen eyes and hearty laugh) found one of these diminutive falcons just afte~ it had loft tho protecting confines of its home, on the 28th of June.
1935Summer Breckenridge led the bird class north of l~eapolis to his one-mile study area to show the erubr-tonic ornithologists a Pileatcd vJoodpecker nest hold in a white bir(}h stub. He ho.d seen the bird excavating same time boforc. He led the class to the stub, rappad 'vigorously, and a.ll expected to see a Pileated emerge, but, much to eV·Jryone t s surprise, the bird that cnme out was a female Spo.rr0w Hawk~ Tho contents of the Pileatcd-Spc.rrcw Havrk nest hole ·vrere not investigated. On July 8th at Glen Lake, Arnold E:d.ckson sn'.-r o. mother Sparrow Hawk feeding 2 week-old young on a telephone pole. It takes a couple game manage~s to find tho first nests of this forest-dwelling bird. Dohic ferreted cut a nest with 13 eggs near Park l1apids May 23rd and Horse discovered the second nest of tho year on May 27th~ It contained 8 eggs, and was under a fire-charred log in a young aspen stand in the Cloquet Valley Forest. The Mobles. saw young out of the nest at Lake Pokegama on ~~e 24th. Prosser and Swedenborg saw 4 families vTith small young from June 23rd ·:. to June 27th in the Caribou Lake region.
1937SummerTwo · fledged young were found by D. Struthers at Minneapolis on June 21.
1938SummerOn June 24 at Minneapolis, D. Struthers saw 2 adult Killy Hawks with 5 male young that could fly. Another family, also awing, was seen by W. J. Breckenridge at Forest Lake on June 28.
1940SummerA nest was found in Ramsey County by Byron Har­rell and William Longley on June I9· As the nest was at least 50 feet up the young were not observed.

1984Winter Reports of about 95 individuals from 39 counties throughout the state. This species is normally not reported in the NC and NE regions so the Crow Wing 12-9 (KSS) and Duluth, overwintered (mob) records are unusual.
1985Spring Overwintered in the south; early north 3/8 Otter Tail SDM, 3/14 Polk TT, Mahnomen MHa, Marshall ANWR.
1985Summer Nested in Clay, Steams, Murray; probable nesting in Becker, Stevens, Anoka. Also seen in 45 other counties throughout the state. Reported from more counties than any other raptor.

1985Winter About 60 individuals (95 L.y) reported from 38 counties in all but the northcentral region. The northeastern region reports were again at Duluth, 1/2 (DRBA) and 2/7 (BDC). A statewide CBC total of 34 with a peak count of six at Rochester.
1986Spring Permanent resident, reported from 34 counties south, 17 north; early north 3/9 Wilkin SDM, 3/12 Clay LCF, KL, 3/14 Becker MBW, Norman BK.

1987Winter More abundant but not qui.te as widespread as last year. Reports from 45 (52 L. Y.) counties including Lake of the Woods, 12/29, (fide M. Kehoe), and the Duluth CBC. A statewide CBC total of 144 (131 L. Y.) with a high count of 30 (29 L. Y.) at Hastings-Etter.

1990Winter The continuing decline (the fourth straight) is disturbing, with records from only 44 counties (50 l.y.) and 96 on the CBCs (110 l.y.). However, some Twin Cities observers report increased sightings, so caution is necessary in interpreting any decline. Overwintered as far north as Otter Tail, Clay and Aitkin and recorded on the Crookston CBC.

1996Winter Although the range was identical to l.y., reports were received from only 28 counties (41 l.y.) and the CBC total was only 54 (81 l.y.). This is the lowest CBC total since 1982–83, when there were over 50% fewer observers.
