1997Spring Reported 5/29 from Park Point, St. Louis Co. (second-summer) KE, DBe.
1997Summer Adult bird carefully identified on 6/2–3 at the 40th Ave. W. site in Duluth in St. Louis Co. PS, SB, AH (The Loon 69:171); this bird was different than the one observed in late May at Park Point in Duluth (The Loon 70:59–61). All of the handful of records for this species in the state have occurred in late spring at or near Duluth.
1999Spring One adult seen 5/21 St. Louis (Duluth, 40th Ave. West) PS (The Loon 71:239).
2000Fall An adult 9/23 St. Louis CLW, TRS, †PHS et al., appeared on both sides of the Superior Entry and provided not only the first Minnesota fall record, but also the latest Wisconsin date.
2001Fall An adult photographed 9/19–21 St. Louis (Superior Entry) †SP, †RJ, †JJS (The Loon 74:120–121) was with a juvenile, probably also an Arctic Tern. Before September 2000, this species was unknown as a fall migrant in Minnesota.
2002Spring One adult 5/27 St. Louis (40th Ave. West, Duluth) †PHS.
2004Spring Single adults 5/15 Wilkin (Breckenridge W.T.P.) ph. †PHS, ph. JWL, SLL (The Loon 76:234–235), 5/23 St. Louis (Duluth) †MH. The former represents the only accepted record of this species away from Duluth.
2004Fall Furnishing the third fall record in five years at the Superior Entry was an adult in alternate plumage 9/25–27 St. Louis SP, TRS; documentation submitted by †MTA, †MH, †PHS, †JGW. Sixteenth state record.
2005Spring One adult 5/20–22 St. Louis (Park Point, Duluth) MLH, †PHS, m.obs.
2005Fall Adult in alternate plumage at Superior Entry 9/18 St. Louis †MLH. Another (possibly the same) was at the Superior Entry and Lafayette Square on Park Point 9/24–25 St. Louis †MLH, TRS et al., with additional documentation by †MTA, †KRE, †PHS. Fall migrants have now appeared at the Superior Entry in four of the last six years, all within a ten-day window between the 18th and 27th of September.
2007Spring1 One adult 5/22–23 St. Louis (Park Point in Duluth) ph. †KRE; another or the same individual observed 5/29 †MLH.
2007Summer11 New county records: 6/15 Lake of the Woods (Garden Island) †RBJ, GAM, 7/14 Lac qui Parle (Agassiz Twp., Big Stone N.W.R.) ph. †PHS, †PCC; the latter bird was refound 7/15 BJU. These represent only the second and third records of this species away from Duluth, following one in Wilkin, 15 May 2004 (The Loon 76:234–235).
2007Fall1 Only report: 10/6 St. Louis (juvenile or sub-adult at Park Point, Duluth) †KRE, m.ob. This is the fifth year this species has been reported in the fall. All prior fall records have been since 2000, from Superior Entry or Park Point, and between 18 and 27 September.
2009Spring11 Two reports: first county record 5/13–14 Dakota (adult at Lake Byllesby) †ADS, †JPM. Another adult observed 5/21 St. Louis (Park Point) †PHS and subsequently relocated 5/23 (Hearding Island) †MLH.
2013Fall1 Adult found 9/28 in St. Louis at Superior Entry †MLH, ph. †ANy. Sixth fall record of this species, all from Superior Entry or Park Point, all since 2000.
2016Summer11 Found 6/2 St. Louis (Park Point) MLH, †PHS, 6/17 Big Stone (770th Avenue just south of 290th St., first correctly identified by Bob Ekblad, though possibly overlooked the previous day) CoM, JWd, ph. †DBz, ph. JWn, DOr, ph. BU.
 
 Twenty-nine records: 11 spring, 3 spring-summer, 8 summer, and 7 fall. Recorded in two (2016, 2023) of the last ten years. Formerly Casual.
