1930SummerA small colony of Cliff Swallows again built their nests under the eaves of a barn at 62nd Street and Penn Avenue, Minneapolis. The writer saw then building on May 7th and on May 23rd there wore twelve nests and the birds were incubating.,
1931SummerA snall colony of about six occupied nests as usual at Penn Avenue and 62nd. Nests occupied but contents not investigated on Hay 29th (Swedenborg}; young on July 3rd (Several observers).
1932SummerFive colbnies of this relatively uncammqn sw'allow ~ere found. ' They were first seen building on May 12th, (Swedenborg) • The latest colony was found at Sturgeon Lake on July 14th by the witoer, when a nearly fledge1d nestling stuck, his heaQ. out at me. There were also young out of the nest. )j
1933Summer Four colonies of this interesting swallow were seen, The nestingsite of the little colony at Minneapolis seeos to be falling into desuetude, for the nuraber of birds has dwindled until, according to Swodenborg, "~nly one pair built in the colony,,,this year, They comr.1encad building on Vmy 16th, and were incubating on June 1oth," The records b'y two other observers are in hnppy contradistinction, Griraos counted 262 nests beneath the eaves of a barn in Pennington County on June 15th, One of the nests which ·.was exaninec1 held 5 eggs and another 4, (This is one of tho le.rgest colonies reported in tho state in recent years.) In Marshall,· County he saw a. colony of 23 nests beneath tho eaves of a shed on Juno 18th, Hiaoenz sa.w a colony of 20 nests near Pine River, Cass County, on June 16th. Several were being built; one helcl 4 eggs, while several others housed incubating birds,
1934Summer The Swodcnborgs reported 6.pairs of these graceful swallows nesting again o.t the same place near MinnoapoJ.:is tho.t thoy have been seen previous years. Those birds,.,oro building on l!lay 5th a.nd incubat.!i.. -.. ing on May 19th. Prosser saw 2 young birds o.nd ono adult of this species perched on a 'Wire with mo.ny Tree Swallows, throe miles, north of McGregor, Aitkin County.
1935Summer Eight pairs of Cliff Swallows nested o.t the farm south of '· ·.. : Minneapolis on Penn Avenue last season. Swedu1borg found 3 nests nearly completed May 19th, and Dr. Rob(3rtst bird class found 3 still under construction May 29th. 1936Summer E. D. Swoc1cnborg again captures the early dt1.to, when this time he observed four ncists of the Cliff Swallow undor construction on May 8th at 62nd, and Penn Avenue.. On: Nay 17th thol3e birds were incubatine;. Robert Turner located two occupied no:3t.s south of Minneapolis on Ha.y 14th. Three pair were observed by Robert Upson carrying feather~ into completed nests built at B~1son beneath a bridge. '.' ' J7 -Tho Flicker, 1936
1938SummerMr. E. D. Swed­ enborg saw 3 nearly completed nests on May 2r. Dr. C. E. Mickel found cliff swallows nesting twenty miles south of Marieqa on June 4· Near Dover, in Olm­ stead County, W. J. Breckenridge and R. M. Berthel found a colony of r 3 nests under a concrete bridge. The 3 nests ex­amined contained 3, 4, and 3 young about 2 days o1d.
1940SummerOnly three per­sons reported this species. At c;ribou Lake, St. Louis Co., on June 30, C. Hero saw adults feeding young in 6o-7o nests. G. Rysgaard located a similar number of nests with eggs and young at Sturgeon Lake on July 2. Don Mahle located and studied during July 2 colonies of several hundred nests each at Whitewater State Park, Winona County.
