1964Spring4-27 Fargo, EGA, excellent details. Probably third North Dakota record.
1965Springa summer record for Madison, Wisconsin makes this record of special interest: on 5-17 Mrs. Gordon Bergquist of the Willmar area sent these details to Ben Thoma: "... bright yellow all over with a black head and bib-white streak on its head." Although the description leaves much to be desired, the bird could have been the Hooded Warbler or, possibly, one of the hybrids mentioned above?

1996Summer Nested at Camp Ripley in Morrison Co. SMr (The Loon 68:245–246); this represents the only documented nesting away from the traditional Murphy-Hanrahan Park site in Scott/Dakota counties. Also observed 6/15 Scott DBS.

ABa, 5/14 Goodhue (location?) RH, 5/20 Hennepin (Cedar L.) DBo. All north reports: 5/6–7 St. Louis (female on Park Point in Duluth) DG, mob, 5/7 St. Louis (male elsewhere on Park Point!) DBe, MSt, 5/24 Morrison (Camp Ripley) SMr, 5/30 Cook (yard bird!) KMH. The records in St. Louis and Cook were both well-documented.

2000Summer Seen 6/6–18 Anoka (two singing males and one female near Linwood L.) †KJB, 6/10 Anoka (male at Pioneer Park in Blaine) KJB; also observed on many dates in Scott and Dakota (an amazing 16–21 territorial males in Murphy-Hanrehan Park Reserve, which straddles both counties; 3 nests and 1 brood found, all parasitized by cowbirds) BAF et al.
2000Fall No fall reports since 1995.

2001Summer Approximately 35 territorial males found at Murphy-Hanrehan Park in Scott and Dakota counties (8 nests located, of which 5 known to be parasitized by cowbirds; 6 additional pairs fledged broods) BAF. This represents the largest nesting concentration of this species ever recorded in the state. Also reported 6/2–23 Anoka CF. [Corrected]
2001Fall Many observations in Scott (Murphy-Hanrehan Park) BAF. At least five individuals, including nest with three nestlings 8/7 (late for active nest) and final sighting 9/30. Exceptionally late and out of range bird at St. Cloud State University 11/21 Stearns †DFK et al.

2005Summer Nineteen territories and five nests (three in Scott County, two in Dakota County) in Murphy-Hanrehan P.R., BAF; one nest failed due to predation, two nests were parasitized by cowbirds, total of ten Hooded Warbler young and one Brown-headed Cowbird young fledged. Also seen 6/2–7/30 Sherburne (Blue Hills Trail, Sherburne N.W.R.) ASc, PLJ, REH, 6/5 Dakota (Lebanon Hills R.P.) PGe.

Many reports from Murphy-Hanrehan P.R., Scott/Dakota beginning 5/5, including high count of 13 on the 15th (12 males and one female) BAF. Also recorded at Battle Creek Park, Cannon River Wilderness Park, Lebanon Hills R.P., and Sherburne N.W.R.

2007Fall2 All reports by BAF 8/2–9/15 from Murphy-Hanrehan P.R. in Dakota and Scott counties, representing a total of 19 territories for the 2007 breeding season. Total of 16 nests found on 12 territories; 6 nests parasitized by Brown-headed Cowbird. Total young fledged from these nests: 22 Hooded Warblers, 2 Brown-headed Cowbirds.

Total number of 2011 breeding territories in Murphy-Hanrehan was 14, down from previous summers, though field time was less and the true total was doubtless greater (BAF). Additional reports 8/7 Anoka (adult female banded at Springbrook N.C.) RLR, 9/7 Hennepin (adult male at Staring Lake Park, Eden Prairie) SLC, Scott JLO.

2012Fall2 An adult male found in the summer at Nine Mile Creek in Hennepin was reported through 9/5 HCT, m.ob. Another individual was in Dakota at Lebanon Hills R.P. 9/8 RaM.

REn, RLF, Washington (William O’Brien S.P.) BDo, EzH. Also found in Dakota (two locations) Hennepin (three locations), Sherburne (Sand Dunes S.F.) LMc, and again in Washington (Oakdale Nature Preserve). More unusual was 5/25 Steele (Rice Lake S.P.) †NiR. All counts of more than one individual were from the state’s stronghold for this species in Scott/Dakota (Murphy-Hanrehan P.R.) where the highest tally was five on 5/29 (MaJ).
