1930SummerThe only riest ot this rather unusual species in this section was found by Ralph Wooleey 1 near Shakopee, on June 9th, on which date it:had four eggs.
1933Summer Five nests of this interesting bird were seen. The first was found by Hiemenz at st. Cloud on June 13th, when it contained 5 eggs. On tho 23rd the nest harbored young, and another nest conto.ining 5 young a.bmut a week old was found. The finder states that thGTe were at least four pairs of this species nesting in the tourist park nt St. Cloud, where tho above were located. Cummings examined three nests nt Red Wing on June 20th, a.ll of which held young.
1934Summer The only record for this bird was supplied by Hanson and Hi.Bnenz, who ·found an adult male feeding one young bird just out of the nest, in the tourist park at St. Cloud on June 26th.
1936Summer Mrs. E. o. Wilson saw adults feeding young at Graceville on July
1937SummerFull grown young were seen near Ortonville on July r8 by Mrs. C. E. Peterson.

1946Summer2 nests with young, June 25, Ramsey Co., Bro. Hubert. In Minnesota this species occurs in local groups, one of which has been in an area in St. Paul; since this area has been worked, these orioles have been reported more often than many more abundant birds.

Most creatures are interacting with other creatures much of the time. Accordingly, much of their behavior con be interpreted as communication with one another. So this book encompasses much of animal behavior. And an interesting book it is.

1999Spring Arrived on time south and north. Reported in all regions except northeast. Early south 5/8 in three counties. Early north 5/15 Cass WB, 5/16 Todd JSK, SDu. Reported northwest in Becker, Clay, Roseau.
1999Summer Fewest reports since 1988. Observed in 13 south counties (although not reported from the southeast region) plus Norman, Clay; also peak count reported 7/18 Traverse (20+) TBo.
1999Fall Reported from Rock and Big Stone in early August, and then only 8/16 Meeker DF, 8/17 Pope and Stevens CMa, 8/18 Traverse CMa.
2000Spring Reported from 20 south counties beginning 5/5 Houston NO, 5/7–8 in two counties, then 5/10–14 in ten. All north reports: 5/15–18 Traverse WM, RJ, 5/20 Clay SDM and Otter Tail CMa, 5/21 Cass WB.
2000Summer Record high number of reports (twice that of the previous year!). Observed in 31 counties as far north as Roseau in the west and Sherburne in the east.
2000Fall All reports: 8/2 Clay RHO, 8/8 Big Stone SLC, 8/24 Blue Earth MJF.
2001Spring Reported from 20 south counties beginning 5/3 Dakota TAT and Hennepin KJB, 5/4 Freeborn AEB. Peak influx 5/7–14 in 10 counties. All north reports: 5/12 Otter Tail mob, 5/18 Cass WLB, 5/19–20 Clay AXH, PHS et al., 5/27 Wilkin SPM, DKM.
2001Summer Reported in 19 counties as far north as Polk in the west and Washington in the east; no reports from the Southwest.
2001Fall Only sighting north: 8/25 Wilkin (3) TAT. Late south 8/15 Nobles and Pipestone CRM, 8/21 Big Stone RJS, 8/27 Big Stone CRM.
2002Spring Seen in 24 south and 15 north counties, including Beltrami (2 locations) and Cass (6th consecutive year in Meadow Brook Twp., WLB) in North-central, Carlton (Cromwell, MSS, GL) in Northeast, and Pine (Hinckley, ph. JMP) in East-central. Many reports from feeders in Northwest. Early south 5/4 Dakota ADS, TAT and Freeborn AEB, 5/5 Winona GLS; first county occurrence 5/16 Benton HHD, JJS. 2003Spring Reported from 17 south and 7 north counties, including unusual locations in Crow Wing (5/19 near Crosby JSB and 5/21 Fort Ripley ph. BiM) and Lake (5/23, male at Two Harbors) JWL. Early south 5/7 Freeborn AEB, 5/10 in four counties including Waseca JEZ. Early north 5/10 Polk JMJ, 5/14 Traverse KJB. Highest reported count 5/17 Rock (4 pair near Luverne) AXH, PHS.
2003Summer Reported in 21 counties as far north as Polk, Pennington in the west and Meeker, Hennepin, Washington in the east.
2003Fall As in 2003, most fall reports were from western regions. North reports from Clay, Polk, Traverse, and (late north) 9/1 Kittson JJS. South reports from Big Stone, Lac qui Parle, Pipestone and Rock, plus 8/23 Dakota SWe.
2004Spring Reported from 20 south and 11 north counties as far northwest as Kittson and Marshall, with many reports at feeders.
