1969Summertwo nests reported from Morrison Co. by DF, one of which was on a prairie pothole, an interesting habitat for this forest duck. Also reported from Beltrami (5 reports), Sherburne, Cass, Mahnomen, Marshall, and 6-7, Swift Co., 4, HH (possibly late migrants?) and 6-4, Carver Co.

This is the farthest southwest the species has been found nesting in Minnesota, although the spec ies did nest at Clear Lake, Iow a, 131 DECEMBER 1970 just over the border (A.C. Bent, Life Histories of North American Birds). Perh aps the spec ie s is recovering old breeding areas. Also reported from Morrison (Randall), Crow Wing, and Marshall Co's.

2019Winter15 No north reports for the first winter since 2013. December reports from 12 south counties, with high counts 12/3 Houston (1,000, Reno Bottoms) GHo, KDS, 12/2 Wabasha (750, Pool 5) PEJ. Large numbers overwintered Scott (up to 60 in January and 38 in February, Blue Lake W.T.P.) m.ob. Other January reports (all singles) from Dakota, Goodhue, Ramsey, Wabasha. Reports from late February (1–4 individuals) were probably early migrants (Big Stone, Hennepin, Martin, Nobles, Wabasha). CBC high counts 12/14 Excelsior (33), St. Paul (North) (3).
