Near Maple Lake in Polk Co., Bob and Eve Freeberg report seeing an OSPREY as well as a BLUE-GRAY GNATCATCHER on the 13th.
Many PHALAROPES were reported by Shelley Steva at the Perham Sewage Ponds just off of Hwy. 10 in Otter Tail Co. on the 15th. She also found a few shorebirds and ducks in a wetland along Hwy. 59 about 4 miles south of Mahnomen, Mahnomen Co.
At the Tamarac National Wildlife Refuge, Becker Co., Steve Midthune reported a YELLOW-BILLED CUCKOO near stop #4 on the auto tour route on the 18th. On the 19th, ten species of birds were feasting on berries in the wildlife plantings behind the visitor center. TRUMPETER SWANS have been seen on Pine Lake.
Another report from Becker Co. on the 12th and 13th, by Ed Sarvie and company, was a pair of SANDHILL CRANES near the intersection of CRs 35 and 37.
At the Crookston Sewage Ponds in Polk Co., one cell has low water levels, and shorebird species found there on the 17th included: KILLDEER, LESSER YELLOWLEGS, SPOTTED SANDPIPER, SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPER, LEAST SANDPIPER, STILT SANDPIPERS and many BLUE-WINGED TEAL.
