Nine GREAT GRAY OWLS were reported this past week in Roseau and Lake of the Woods Counties. Sightings were from Highway 310 north of Roseau; Roosevelt Road north of the Norris fire tower; on the Winner Road by the Winner silo; along the snowmobile trail between Bemis Hill and Dick's Parkway; at the intersection of Dick's Parkway and the Winner Forest Road and in the Beltrami Island State Forest. Also, a possible GYRFALCON was seen north of Bemis Hill in the farm country on the north side of the Perry Pit Road.
At the Norris Camp feeders, Lake of the Woods County, both PINE GROSBEAKS and EVENING GROSBEAKS are present.
A VARIED THRUSH was observed by Gertie Carter at her home north of Skime in Roseau County on the 25th and 26th. This is on the north side of CR 19, one mile east of CR 9.
A SNOWY OWL was seen on the 22nd along CR 54 north of Grygla in Marshall County.
>From the Wetlands, Pines and Prairie Audubon Sanctuary in Polk County, birds observed this past week included SNOWY OWL, PINE GROSBEAKS and BALD EAGLE.
And lastly, a late MEADOWLARK was observed in Becker County on the 25th by Bob Scherzer near the Hamden Slough NWR.
