Migrants continue to make their way through our area. Red-tailed hawks, flickers, bluejays, bluebirds, white-throated, white-crowned, fox and other more common sparrows and yellow-rumped warblers are numerous. Early migrant ring-necked ducks are being seen in good numbers on area lakes.

>From Norris Camp in the Red Lake WMA in Lake of the Woods Co. this past week, Gretchen Mehmel reports SHARP-SHINNED HAWK, NORTHERN HARRIER, AMERICAN WOODCOCK, GRAY JAY, DARK-EYED JUNCO, TURKEY VULTURE, NORTHERN FLICKER and COMMON RAVEN. A "non-bird" observation, a bobcat, was also in the area. A GREAT GRAY OWL was seen along Roosevelt Forest Road just north of Norris Camp.

>From the Hamden Slough National Wildlife Refuge in Becker Co., Bob Scherzer's report from the past week included, COMMON SNIPE, RED-HEADED WOODPECKER, YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLERS and GREAT EGRETS, plus a variety of waterfowl.

At the Tamarac National Wildlife Refuge in Becker Co., TRUMPETER SWANS are being seen daily on lakes and marshes. Also EVENING GROSBEAKS made an appearance at visitor center feeders twice in the past week and two late PINE WARBLERS were still present on the 27th.

On the 26th, two EASTERN PHOEBES, and on the 28th a lone TENNESSEE WARBLER were at the Wyatts, south of Detroit Lakes in Becker Co.
