Another mild week has gone by in the northwest, and now there are signs that the warmth may be nearly over. Some areas received a dusting of snow today, and more is forecast for the coming days.
Mike Thiele at Warroad reported COMMON MERGANSERS on Lake of the Woods, in Lake of the Woods County, on December 7.
Three BALD EAGLES were seen by Gary Tischer along US 59 on December 7, a half mile south of Karlstad in Kittson County .
Doug Johnson in Beltrami County reported a CANVASBACK and two REDHEADS on Lake Bemidji in Bemidji on December 7.
Six WILD TURKEYS were seen by Gary Tischer in Marshall County a few miles north of the Pennington County line along US 59 on December 7.
In Pennington County, Gary saw a EURASIAN COLLARED-DOVE and an AMERICAN ROBIN in his yard in Thief River Falls on December 7.
Sandy Aubol reported on December 6 that there were thousands of geese at the American Crystal Sugar plant in East Grand Forks, Polk County.
