This is the Duluth Birding Report for December 7th, 2013 sponsored by the Minnesota Ornithologists' Union.
A VARIED THRUSH was found by Bob Heller on the 5th in his yard at 9129 Congdon Boulevard (Scenic Highway 61). Bob's yard is visible from Scenic Highway 61, and observers should use caution if parking along the road. This is just east of the Lake Breeze Motel, and about a mile west of the McQuade Road public access.
A NORTHERN HAWK OWL was found on the 1st along the Homestead Road (CR 42) in Duluth Township, 0.2 mile north of the Clover Valley Road. Another was found on the 1st by Josh Hokey along Arrowhead Road at Rice Lake Road in Duluth. Clinton Nienhaus saw a SNOWY OWL on November 30th on the Minnesota side of the Superior Entry.
