This is the Duluth Birding Report for November 12th, 2015 sponsored by the Minnesota Ornithologists' Union.

A WHITE-EYED VIREO was found on the 7th by Suzanne Swanson, Kim Eckert and others at Artists' Point in Grand Marais. Kim’s group also saw WHITE-WINGED SCOTERS at Taconite Harbor, Good Harbor Bay, and the Grand Marais harbor, as well as at Burlington Bay in Two Harbors. They saw SURF SCOTER at the Grand Marais harbor and BLACK SCOTER on the East Bay side of Grand Marais.

Kim reports that the GOLDEN-CROWNED SPARROW at 44th Avenue East and Regent Street in the Lakeside neighborhood of Duluth was still present on the 7th. Birders are welcome to look for the bird but the homeowner asks observers to stay on the sidewalk and not venture into his yard.

Kim Eckert saw three PACIFIC LOONS at the Park Point Recreation Area on the 11th. Jeff Eddy and Dale Trexel saw what were probably the same birds here on the 8th. They also saw a RUDDY DUCK on the 6th out from the Park Point Recreation Area.

Peder Svingen found a second-cycle ICELAND GULL on the 6th at the Superior Entry and it has been reported as recently as the 11th. He also saw a third-cycle ICELAND GULL on the 11th at Canal Park along with six THAYER'S GULLS.

Gordon Anderson found a NORTHERN MOCKINGBIRD on the 7th in Two Harbors at South Avenue and 1st Street.
