This is the Minnesota Birding Report for Wednesday, September 10th 2008.
On the 9th, an IBIS was seen at the west end of South Pool at Agassiz NWR in Marshall County.
A MISSISSIPPI KITE flew past Hawk Ridge in Duluth on the 8th and another did so on the 9th. Based on observed plumage differences, these are presumed to have been two separate individuals. A MISSISSIPPI KITE was at the Old Cedar Avenue Bridge area of Bloomington, Hennepin County, on the morning of September 9th.
On September 7th, two immature SABINE'S GULLS were at the Walker waste water treatment ponds in Cass County. From the intersection of state highways 371 and 200, drive north for about two miles, then turn left on township road 73. Follow this road to the ponds. On the 9th, an immature SABINE'S GULL was at the swimming beach at the north end of White Bear Lake in Ramsey County. This was off county road 96.
A YELLOW-THROATED WARBLER was reported on the 9th in St. Louis County. It was seen for about 20 minutes along the 1000 block of Maple Grove Road in Duluth.
Also on the 9th, an adult female CASSIN'S FINCH was reported from near the Kettle River SNA. The location was a small park situated 4.7 miles west of I-35 on Pine County Road 48, then one mile north on an unmarked road.
