A YELLOW-CROWNED NIGHT-HERON was found by Peder Svingen at Lake Alice in downtown Fergus Falls, Becker Co. on the 17th. The bird was also observed there on the 18th, but was not found again later in the week. Randy Frederickson found SNOWY EGRETS & CATTLE EGRETS at this location on the 21st.

The EURASIAN TREE SPARROW that has resided at a lake residence in Clay County for the 3rd year was reported by Randy Frederickson on the 22nd. For directions to see this bird, please contact the state-wide hotline at 763-780-8890.

Some of the birds reported from the Buffalo River Bird Monitoring Station, Buffalo River State Park and the Regional Science Center in Clay Co. on the 17th include: YELLOW-THROATED VIREO, INDIGO BUNTING, SCARLET TANAGER & UPLAND SANDPIPER.

Some interesting birds were reported by Peder Svingen from a trip last weekend in northwestern Minnesota, which included a total of 18 SHORT-EARED OWLS in 10 different locations. He also observed to dark IBISES as they WHITE-FACED IBIS flew over his car on U.S. Hwy. 10 about one mile east of the town of Audubon in Becker Co. Roseau County highlights included HORNED GREBES at the Roseau River WMA, EARED GREBES and nests at the Greenbush lagoons, WILSON'S PHALAROPES at the Roseau lagoons, YELLOW-BILLED CUCKOOS and YELLOW RAIL along Co. Rd. 7 and ORCHARD ORIOLE at the Co. Rds. 7/10 intersection. An AMERICAN AVOCET was at the Crookston lagoons in Polk Co. DICKCISSELS were along Co. Rd. 26 in Clay Co. And a NELSON'S SHARP-TAILED SPARROW was at Agassiz NWR in Marshall Co.

A pair of RED-SHOULDERED HAWKS were in Mike Murphy's yard near Eagle Lake in Becker Co. on the 16th. He observed them flying down to the ground to pick up nightcrawlers.

A YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLER was seen at Maple Lake in Polk County on the 18th by Bob & Eve Freeberg.

Bob O'Connor reports a late BAY-BREASTED WARBLER which he found in Gooseberry Park in South Moorhead, Clay Co. on the 18th.

Both BALD EAGLES & TURKEY VULTURES were reported by Kay Hartness, seen in her yard on Cotton Lake this past week.
