Small flocks of warblers in early migration have been observed over the past week, moving through the Detroit Lakes and Tamarac NWR areas. Some species identified include: TENNESSEE WARBLER, NASHVILLE WARBLER, YELLOW WARBLER, CHESTNUT-SIDED WARBLER, BLACKBURNIAN WARBLER, BLACK-AND-WHITE WARBLER and AMERICAN REDSTART.

On August 6th, two LOGGERHEAD SHRIKES were seen sitting on a wire along Clay CR 24, ½ mile east of its junction with State Hwy. 32.

The EURASIAN TREE SPARROW is still present at a lake cabin northeast of the town of Rollag in Clay County, reported on August 11th by Forest & Kirsten Strnad and Gordon & Artis Martinson. For directions to see this bird, please call the state-wide hotline at 763-780-8890.

At the Hamden Slough NWR in Becker County, shorebirds activity remains much the same as reported last week. Species found there on August 11th included:
