A few waves of migrant passerines were reported over the past week in Becker County, including YELLOW-THROATED VIREO, BLUE-HEADED VIREO, WARBLING VIREO, RED-EYED VIREO, EASTERN BLUEBIRD, a variety of warblers such as GOLDEN-WINGED WARBLER, TENNESSEE WARBLER, NASHVILLE WARBLER, NORTHERN PARULA, YELLOW WARBLER, CHESTNUT-SIDED WARBLER, PINE WARBLER, BLACK-AND-WHITE WARBLER, AMERICAN REDSTART, MOURNING WARBLER, COMMON YELLOWTHROAT, WILSON'S WARBLER and CANADA WARBLER. Other species seen were RED-BREASTED NUTHATCH, BLUE-GRAY GNATCATCHER, SCARLET TANAGER, CHIPPING SPARROW, and CLAY-COLORED SPARROW.

Dan and Sandy Thimgan were treated to a close-up view of a YELLOW-BILLED CUCKOO outside their home in Otter Tail County on the 13th. They also reported a RED-BREASTED NUTHATCH that day and an OLIVE-SIDED FLYCATCHER on the 14th.

In Polk County, Dorothy Russell found a flock of BOBOLINKS on the 12th, and on the 13th YELLOW-THROATED VIREO, RED-EYED VIREO, PINE SISKIN and at the Crookston Cemetery, a RUBY-CROWNED KINGLET.

Gary Tischer reports that a variety of shorebirds are still present in the area of Lansing Parker Pool along Marshall CR 7 at the Agassiz National Wildlife Refuge. Recent rains have hampered the drawdown efforts and other areas that had been holding shorebirds in the refuge are now covered with water.

Stan Wood reports that the Roseau Lake Wildlife Management Area is full of water following recent rains - a good place to check for migrants. The easiest access is to take State Hwys. 11/89 west of Roseau three miles, then go north along CR 123 to the WMA.
