There's lots of evidence that migration is continuing in earnest. Waves of warblers are moving through northwestern Minnesota on their trek south. Mourning doves are also numerous in Becker County, many birds lining the wires at roadsides. Dark-eyed juncos also arrived in Becker County on the 14th.

On the 8th, Doug Johnson birded at Hobson Forest, Beltrami County, and reported a variety of birds including BLACK-BACKED WOODPECKER, TENNESSEE WARBLER, NASHVILLE WARBLER, CHESTNUT-SIDED WARBLER, BAY-BREASTED WARBLER, BLACK-AND-WHITE WARBLER and OVENBIRD. Birds noted on the 9th included some of the same warblers, as well as TENNESSEE WARBLER, YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLER, PINE WARBLER, PALM WARBLER and COMMON YELLOWTHROAT. And on the 10th, species recorded at the city park along the Montebello Ski Trail were ROSE-BREASTED GROSBEAK, RUBY-THROATED HUMMINGBIRD and LINCOLN'S SPARROW.

Mary Wyatt, who lives just south of Detroit Lakes in Becker County has recorded waves of warblers moving through her yard, many stopping to bathe, on the 6th and again on the 13th, including several BLACK-THROATED BLUE WARBLERS, which are uncommon for this area. Other birds recorded on the 6th included SCARLET TANAGER and ROSE-BREASTED GROSBEAK. On the 13th, RUBY-CROWNED KINGLETS were also observed.

On the 8th, Jeannie Joppru reported MAGNOLIA WARBLER, RED-BREASTED NUTHATCH, SWAINSON'S THRUSH and COMMON NIGHTHAWKS from her Pennington County yard, near Thief River Falls. On the 9th, she had WHITE-THROATED SPARROWS, and her neighbor Shelley Steva, saw MERLIN, COOPER'S HAWK, DARK-EYED JUNCO and GREATER YELLOWLEGS flying overhead.

>From the Tamarac National Wildlife Refuge in Becker County this week, birds reported include TURKEY VULTURE, TRUMPETER SWAN, OSPREY, BALD EAGLE, COOPER'S HAWK, BROAD-WINGED HAWK, MERLIN, WILD TURKEY, RUBY-THROATED HUMMINGBIRD (last seen 9/12), NORTHERN FLICKER, RED-BREASTED NUTHATCH, RUBY-CROWNED KINGLET, SWAINSON'S THRUSH, WILSON'S WARBLER, SONG SPARROW, DARK-EYED JUNCO and many AMERICAN GOLDFINCH.
