In Becker County, three SNOWY OWLS remain at the north end of the Hamden Slough NWR. Two birds are along CR 14 just north and west of the town of Callaway. Another bird can usually be found south of the jct. of CRs 13 and 14. On the 7th, three ROUGH-LEGGED HAWKS and one GOLDEN EAGLE were along CR 13 near it's jct. with CR 106. Three AMERICAN KESTRELS have also been seen north of Detroit Lakes along various county and township roads this week.
On the 2nd, two NORTHERN HAWK OWLS were along Hwy. 310 north of the city of Roseau in Roseau County. The owls were near milepost 9. East of this spot, along the ditch, three BLACK-BACKED WOODPECKERS were found. Other birds seen in the area were BALD EAGLE, NORTHERN SHRIKE, GRAY JAY and SNOW BUNTING.
At the Old Mill State Park in Marshall County this week, birds reported were ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK, RED-BREASTED NUTHATCH and COMMON REDPOLL. Nine AMERICAN ROBINS were seen 12 miles west of Thief River Falls this week.
Birds seen on the river in Fergus Falls, Otter Tail County, on the 2nd included PIED-BILLED GREBE, TRUMPETER SWAN, COMMON GOLDENEYE and MALLARD.
At the Rothsay Prairie in Wilkin County on the 2nd, birds reported were GOLDEN EAGLE, BALD EAGLE, ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK, NORTHERN HARRIER and GREATER PRAIRIE-CHICKEN.
Other birds reported this week included SHARP-SHINNED HAWK, WILD TURKEY, SHARP-TAILED GROUSE, GREAT HORNED OWL, BARRED OWL, NORTHERN FLICKER, BOHEMIAN WAXWING and DARK-EYED JUNCO.
