This is the Minnesota birding report for Friday November 3rd, sponsored by the Minnesota Ornithologists' Union.

On November 3rd a second state record ASH-THROATED FLYCATCHER was found by Mike Hendrickson in Two Harbors, Lake County. It was seen feeding at the corner of 2nd Street and South Ave., one block East of the entrance road to the light house and Agate bay parking lot area. Look for a green house with a apple trees behind it and a mountain ash tree to the west.

On October 30th Peder Svingen and Anthony Hertzel found a first-winter BLACK-LEGGED KITTIWAKE near the lighthouse in Two Harbors, Lake County. It was seen for only half a minute before it continued flying east along the shoreline.

On October 29th, Jim Andrews found an immature ibis -- probably a White-faced Ibis -- at pool number 8 at the Carlos Avery Wildlife Management Area in Anoka County, but several people looked for it on the 31st and were unable to relocate it. Still, the directions are: from Interstate 35 take the Wyoming exit and go west on highway 22 for about half a mile to Viking Lane. Turn left and drive just under a mile and a half and turn left again. In about a third of a mile you'll reach a small bridge and it was from here that Jim found the bird in the pond on the right.

A PACIFIC LOON was found on the southwest side of Farm Island Lake in Aitkin County on the 28th.

A SNOWY OWL was discovered on the 28th in St. Louis County along Stone Lake Road (county road 319) in the town of Zim, half a mile east of state highway 7. On November 1st Doug Hennessee saw a Snowy Owl near Brandon in Douglas County on the north side of Interstate 94 between mile markers 86 and 87.

A TOWNSEND'S SOLITAIRE was found by Tom Tustison on the 28th at Wood Lake Nature Center in Minneapolis. The bird was feeding with a flock of robins and waxwings on the east side of the lake.

A migrant GOLDEN EAGLE was seen on the 27th of October along Aitkin County Road 5 four miles north of state highway 210. There is still a THAYER'S GULL in Garrison Bay in Crow Wing County, and another was recently found along the north side of Mille Lacs Lake in Aitkin County. It was seen about three miles east of Wealthwood. Other new reports over the past week were of TUNDRA SWAN, ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK, NORTHERN SHRIKE, MEADOWLARK species, and PINE GROSBEAK.
