On July 1st a CLARK'S GREBE was seen on Lake Osakis in with several hundred WESTERN GREBES near the Todd and Douglas county line.
A LESSER YELLOWLEGS was found by Ken Lafond on June 29th at Carlos Avery Refuge in Anoka County. This is probably a non breeding stray rather than an early fall migrant.
That SCISSOR-TAILED FLYCATCHER was still present in Elk River, Sherburne County as of June 29th. Directions are to go east from U.S. highway 10 along 165th Ave for one half mile. Check along the fence line on the south side of the road as well as in the cottonwood trees which line the north side of the road. The flycatcher has been associating with at least one Western Kingbird. A second Scissor-tailed Flycatcher was reported from Chisago County on June 17th. Aletta Thorp reports finding this bird on county road 7 about a mile east of the town of Rush Point. Warren Wagner reported two YELLOW-BILLED CUCKOOS from the Black Dog Lake area of Dakota County. This is from the same general area as where the BELL'S VIREOS have been reported. From Interstate 35W go east for one half mile along Cliff Road. Park at the Park-and-Ride and walk east along the railroad tracks for about a third of a mile to the sign that reads '15'.
On June 28th Julian Sellers reported a BELL'S VIREO from Waseca County at a wildlife area which is about 4 1/2 miles south of the town of Waseca on state highway 13. The bird was seen again on July 3rd
Don Wanschura had two record late TENNESSEE WARBLERS on July 1st in Brooklyn Center, Hennepin County. This is certainly unusual for this rare Minnesota breeder. Perhaps more unusual was the June 30th WILSON'S WARBLER found by Karl Bardon at the Boot Lake S.N.A. in the Carlos Avery area of Anoka County.
A YELLOW-BREASTED CHAT is being seen in Olmsted County. The bird was found June 26th at the Nelson's fen, which is along state highway 30 about half a mile east of county road 3. After parking in the small lot, walk north for about 200 yards along the tree lined path. After passing a small pond, look in the line of trees directly to the west.
